Hey bill, I just read the concept for this blog. It sounds like what happens to us all - we can't get the voices/ messages of childhood out of our head and it affects how we live our life. Maybe ner the end of the story, homeboy can go to a new age self love teacher like depak chopra so he can make peace with those voices instead of run away. Forgive the ignorance that influenced the negative things he heard in childhood. know that it didn't come from a place of truth but from a place of fear and ignorance. You can parady the whole thing of course. Make fun of the hole new age movement. Or better yet, he could sit down with Oprah! Or dr. Phil. Just a thought.
Rita- I like the idea of working in new-age gurus and Oprah-like folks. I think Homeboy will get ideas from all sorts of folks, but the ending will go something along the lines of that great William Gibson quote: “Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self esteem, first make sure that you are not, in fact, just surrounding yourself with assholes.” :)
